These are mostly from events in which I didn’t have the Camera, can’t remember the event or only took a few pics.
Pulled this out of my archives, might do some more of these from time to time.
Gotta love War. Unfortunately I had the bad luck to get somewhat injured during the first battle. I don’t really remember if I had fought Lost Boy Adam before. But he is insane. He fought off me and someone else, while one of us was in front of him and one of us were behind him. Of course I had managed to run backwards full steam into the steps on the side of the castle. Follow that with getting nailed in the elbow with a full speed long sword swing. The oddly shaped bruise (maybe due to pads?) is blood red right now. Oh well. The war was a ton of fun though. I think I did the eliminate the whole opposing side with deaths from behind about four times. There really is no easier way to get the other sides army wanting to kill you really badly.
As the group we did pretty good too. Some of the guys were on fire with their spears. I had a tendency to keep whichever was with me from getting killed, or to be a human guinea pig, get killed and open up the other sides spear man. Rob finally figured out that trying to fight off 5 people at once is a bad idea if its a res battle. Unfortunately by the end of the day Gerade was out of action with a slight injuries.
I also got paid one of the biggest compliments ever after the war. Angus said to me that I’m one of the fastest pole arms out there, and that I’ve definitely improved. I said I gotta be that fast because I seem to end up fighting Muscles a lot on the flank. It was definitely sweet.
Afterwards, Gerade and I went out to the good pizzeria in the area. Yes, it is scary that Gerade knows which pizzerias suck in the area. Where I proceeded to be master of the awkward comment from left field. Some of my favorites were:
“You know what? Yahoo has too many guys wishing they were Japanese schoolgirls with dicks”
*really stupid looking hick enters the pizza place* “at least I’m no longer the dumbest person here”
*whigga enters the pizzeria, looking really, really whigged out. Including black headband* “at least I’m not the oddest dressed person here” (I was in my medieval stuff)
*I look at the board of local business cards and see a card for “Ray’s Crab Shack” and I follow up with this line, very loudly* “What the hell am I doing here when I can be at Ray’s Crab Shack!”
Trust me, there were more, a lot more. But unfortunately I can’t remember half of the crazy stuff I said. I also remember saying that by some point I had probably pissed off the cooks (I talk loud, very loud) that my Stromboli was going to have hair, piss and dirt in it. There was also a very unfortunate mother and young daughter attempting to eat dinner directly behind me. Sometimes people just come into the line of fire.
At one point or another Gerade was either offended by something I said or laughing so hard he was crying. On the ride home I was torturing Gerade, and when I finally stopped for five minutes I killed the silence with this line “I wonder why no one ever calls me to hang out with them?” which was followed with more laughter

One of the few times I’m cross posting. I posted this for my medieval organization, they liked it so I figured I’d post it here.
I figured this might interest a few people around here. I recently picked up a game called Mount & Blade http://www.taleworlds.com/. Its set in a fictional realm, but otherwise the game stays pretty true to Medieval period warfare. No potions to heal, no magic. The over world plays a lot like Sid Meier’s Pirates, for those that have played that game. There are castles, towns and villages. Castles are attached to towns and need to be taken via siege (length depends on their food supplies) or siege assaults which use either Ladders/Ramps or a siege tower. Towns are major economic centers, and you can actually play the game without purposely getting into a fight and just be a traveling merchant. In different towns different goods are priced differently. Villages are the smallest, mostly just poor peasants trying to get by. In Villages you can recruit the lowest level of recruits. As you battle more and if the recruits survive the battles, they will move up a tree to become stronger fighters.
I’ll get back to explain a bit more about the over map, but the battles are fantastic too. Your character will start on horseback with a bow and arrow and a sword. With the bow you can only shoot directly forward/backward or to your right. There is a reason to be on horseback too, the game automatically includes bonuses for momentum when using melee weapons. So a full on charge with a sword swing that connects causes more damage then standing still and swinging. This works off of horseback too, as a major technique is to block, circle to the left and swing while moving. So while moving a swing will have a speed bonus too.
During battles you have a limited amount of arrows, and you can also pick up weapons/ammo from dead fighters. Also if you hit someone with an arrow it tends to stay. So sometimes you might see a shield with 10-12 arrows/bolts sticking out of it. The weapons are also realistic, a sword swings the fastest but has the least reach, as the weapon gets bigger (Moving from Sword to Great Sword/Two Handed Sword to Polearm) the speed goes down. A blunt weapon will knock someone out, who if you win the battle can be captured and sold off.
On the overmap, you’ll be attacked by smaller parties of Looters/Desserters/Mountain Bandits and Sea Raiders depending on how strong you are. Once your party is big enough and your famous enough most of them will run from you. There are 6 factions on the map, and once you become famous enough they will start offering you more and more to join them. While your independent you can loot and pillage small towns, attack their caravans and so on. The game is pretty much wide open for whatever you want to do. I can’t recommend it enough, its easily the best medieval period game I’ve played. Its few weaknesses are more then made up for in other areas. The main problem I have is that I’m already bad at First person shooters, and trying to arch from Horseback is tough. The house is controlled with WSAD keys for forward, back, left and right while the mouse chooses what you view and works for swinging the weapons. But that is just me, otherwise its a great one.

So once again The Feast Of Plenty will be a highlight for Paper Street. Last year we had 2 members and a probie attend. That was our highest attendance of the year. This FoP we once again managed 2 members and a probie. The food was incredibly good, the company at the table was great, and nothing bad can be said of the feast. It is The Feast on the Markland schedule. With that said, time for pics.
