Pittsburgh Penguins Fans are Loving Me

So I write over at Lighthouse Hockey, which is an Islanders blog for SB Nation. In case you’ve been living under a rock, the Islanders and Penguins had an insane game last night including 340+ PIM and a ton of fights. The Islanders won and I wrote the recap for LHH, which has apparently angered all of the Penguins Blogosphere. One of those were The Pens Blog which called Lighthouse Hockey buttholes. I could live with that, I’ve been called worse. But they proceeded to have a podcast and spent 5 minutes ripping into the recap. They only stopped because someone called in.

So I thought I’d stop by and give them the opportunity to chat. Now I don’t think the actual people who were on the podcast or the blog have replied, but let’s just say Pittsburgh knows how to stay classy:

ya, one jerkoff on twitter said something about dreaming about the islanders team getting into a plane crash, I have to look for it and i’ll repost it. It’s hilarious, they think the pens have been good forever, tho in reality it took their two gift wrapped saviors to save their team 6 years ago. o well, they still gave up 9 goals, they need something to distract them from that i guess

What gives the Islanders the right to “exact revenge” on the Penguins for something that’s been “building up for a long time?” Cooke? He wasn’t even in the game. Talbot’s hit on Comeau? Clean, or he would have penalized or suspended. The hit on Talbot was a Todd Bertuzi/Steve Moore play all the way, an ungloved sucker punch to a defenseless player. And taunting a guy you just elbowed as he’s laying on the ice? Skating the entire length of the ice AFTER a fight just to have another one with a goalie? Oh, and for those out there who claim the Pens get off “easy,” you do know they are they HIGHEST PENALIZED TEAM IN THE NHL! Whatever the intentions were, the New York Islanders just made themselves a shining example of why ice hockey just can’t seem to catch on with parents. Beer league, “we’ve got nothing to lose” style play is embarrassing for the entire sport at all levels and the New York Islanders have got every other sport laughing at hockey. Revenge should have stopped at the scoreboard. Instead the Islanders and every unintelligent fan who cheered for last night’s abortion have proven why the team is at the bottom of the league and the butt of everyone’s jokes.
