I was recently watching Dracula: Dead and Loving it, and realized that as one of Mel Brooks films it’s not the best. But when you compare it to the absolute drivel we have been given from the “… Movies” and the Friedburg and Seltzer movies, it’s actually genius.  This last decade has been just about as bad as possible when it comes to parody films. With the success of The Producers and Young Frankenstein on Broadway, why not give Mel Brooks one more chance to make a final parody movie?

There’s been more then enough to Parody, especially with LOTR and the Harry Potter movies coming out over the last decade. Oh and let’s not forget the easy target that would be parodying the Star Wars Prequel, considering the masterpiece that was Spaceballs. There are plenty of films Mel Brooks could parody, or even create something original ala the much enjoyable Life Stinks. Anything Brooks does would be preferable to the absolute trash that has been dumped on us in the name of either parody or comedy. Any Mel Brooks film is better then a movie in which Adam Sandler plays his own twin sister.

If Hollywood is willing to throw away money at almost any project, whats the worst that could happen if you give Mel Brooks 10-20 million dollars anyway? Let the guy do what he does best, and have one big final hurrah to call it a career. Maybe even inspire more people to go and watch the classic Mel Brooks films. Maybe inspire people to put together better comedy movies and better parodies. In the long run it might help the movie industry rather then hurt it.

Someone, anyone please go out and offer money to Mel Brooks. Enough with all the half-assed unfunny movies.  Let’s make this happen and put something that is not only funny but somewhat intelligent. Hell, maybe he can even make something that crosses the line. Blazzing Saddles is so funny today, and so many of those lines are just so bad but you can’t help to grin. Even the gross out humor isn’t so bad that it gives you douche-chills, unlike too many movies today.

I’ve always loved Mel Brooks, and I was just love to see one last hurray out of him. But this isn’t just me being greedy. I think too many of his great films are just fading away. Really, if people need to take inspiration from some good movies, here you go. I fear that kids of all ages are forgetting his films and will think that “Meet The Spartans” was a hilarious movie. If Meet The Spartans makes one kid in the future make a film very much based on it, then all hope for humanity is obviously lost.
