So I’ve mentioned before that I’ve worked overnight stock for Giant. If there was one thing I eternally hated about the job, it was having to “Face” the products. This was made even more fun by the fact that my hands aren’t exactly small. So it was a ton of fun, especially when working with items that barely fit in the row they were in. See, you had to bring forward 2 pieces of merchandise to the front of the row. Because I guess otherwise people would think that we were sold out of that item?
It was easily the worst part of the job. First off, if your in the aisle with Ketchup and don’t SEE your brand of ketchup at the very front of the row, aren’t you going to take a peek and see if maybe there’s some pushed back? 90% of the time when you go to the grocery store, especially after 10 or 11, most of the products aren’t faced anymore anyway. You would have to be an idiot to not realize whatever your looking for is no longer there just because you can’t “see it”.
But it would be the end of the world to the higher ups if we didn’t face merchandise. You know, because we were actually trying to get EVERYTHING out and on the shelves that came in. But I guess looking pretty > having product on the shelves to buy. Then again everything about the company was ass backwards anyway. Since most of the bosses didn’t get in until 10 AM (it’s nice being in charge) they would complain that we didn’t put enough water on the shelves during the summer. Needless to say if they came in early they would see we stocked plenty of water, just the contractors bought it all up and no one else would stock the shelves. Despite us leaving a note and all the water by the doors to the floor.
I think they just loved to blame the night shift for everything, since we got something like an extra 75 cents for working overnights. For anyone that’s worked overnights before, that 75 cents really isn’t worth the level of frustration involved in working overnights. Changing your sleep cycle so that you sleep during the day is the absolute worse. Plus everyone loves to call you when your asleep, conveniently forgetting that you work at night. To top it all off? One time I put my head down to fall asleep, and a god dam parade came down the street.
And such brilliant moves as this will keep them on top:

That’s right, you can own this bundle for ONLY 135.94. If you bought all this content separately it would cost you a whooping 125.31. That gives you a savings of +10 bucks! What a great deal from Paradox and Amazon! I can’t see why Paradox ever gets a backlash from anyone.
Although I did go to a lot of different schools. I could never last more then 4 years at a school. So for clarity it’s the school I went through from 4th to 8th grade. Apparently the attendance had gotten so bad that they had merged some of the classes. I have almost nothing but horrible memories about the place. The teachers almost all hated me, and since I got there half way through, I never endeared myself to the people I went there with. I actually checked my facebook and there’s all of 2 people on it that I know from that school.
It was great seeing some of the teachers that really hated me crying in the pictures. When I joined the school there was 5 or 6 of us who joined it the same year from the same public school. We had a Sister the first year, who basically HATED everyone that had transferred in. Within two years there was only two of us left. That same Sister went on to become the Principal of the school. She was probably part of the reason the school went under, she was always so evil. From everything I heard from my friend who had a brother that went there after him and said it was even worse.
The funny thing is, I know people who are crying over this because their kids aren’t going to be able to go to that shithole of a school. Seriously, this one girl I graduated with it was like the family tradition to go to school there. It wasn’t just the people in her close family either, it was her aunts, uncles and cousins too. Considering she just had a kid, I really think she is crying that her kid can’t go to the school.
Some people just care too much. Does it really matter what school you send your kids to? At the point that your crying about a school closing, maybe you should take a good hard look at your life. Maybe it’s time to get up and move and try living somewhere else. I think moving away from Staten Island was the best idea I ever had. Too expensive to live there, nowhere to rent, traffic everywhere. It’s a nice place to visit but I wouldn’t want to live there. I don’t think I’ve understand the importance of staying in one area your whole life. At some point don’t you just wonder what’s out there in the rest of the world? Is spending a few years in college enough to make up for wanting to maybe live and see a few more places? People are weird.
I don’t think I’ve ever quoted from the Bible before. It’s kind of ironic that 8 years of Catholic School basically assured that I was too smart to fall for religious BS. But sometimes the only way you can speak to the far right is in their own language.
“But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them – bringing swift destruction on themselves. Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping” (2 Peter 2:1–3 NIV).
Personally, I am sick and tired of hearing about “End Times” as “predicted” by the Bible. Realistically the Book Of Revelations was written as a way to parody Nero. I mean imagine if in a thousand years someone picked up a random book which mocked history and thought it was real. Or even better, imagine if the only thing that survived to tell future generations about our society was Epic Movie. The very thought makes me sad.
But as long as the Christian Right believes it is preparing for a final battle between good and evil, let’s play along with it. Glenn Beck is a wolf among the sheep. His outright and blatant lies has been stirring up the most ignorant and fearful on the right. Anyone with a thimble of intelligence should realize that he spouts nothing but lies. His poor record as a commentator is seen in the ads he sells. Glenn Beck wouldn’t care if every single one of his “supporters” went bankrupt buying gold. Ironically, Glenn Beck selling gold is like “Don’t Be A Victim” selling guns. Both programs do nothing but promulgate fear. Beck’s listeners buy gold on the belief that the government is on the verge of collapse and your fortunes will be saved if you invest it in gold. That these relatively fundamentalist Christians who believe rapture is right around the corner care so much for saving their wealth. Shouldn’t the glory of heaven be worth more then any earthly possessions?
I tend to ignore Glenn Beck. His view tends to be so insane and fake that I can’t take him seriously. So you might be wondering why I’m even bothering with him now. His “Restoring Honor” gathering tomorrow at the Lincoln memorial has perturbed me to no end. It’s funny that a Republican (Or if you object, Right Leaning) would hold any sort of speech or rally at the Lincoln memorial, considering that the party has long lost sight of what it’s most important member stood for. Could you imagine today’s Republicans if there was a civil war and at the conclusion their leader, the President, wanted to offer amnesty to all rebels? They would run him out of town on the first rail. Take for example the Freedman’s Bureau. Not only did it actively try to protect the rights of the newly freed slaves, but it also helped improve both medical coverage and schools through the South. How quickly would today’s Republicans be screaming about the fair market?

Hi Mark,
We would love to share with you an article that we just posted on our
own blog! “10 Reasons Satellite Radio Rocks”
would be an interesting story for your readers to check out and
discuss on your blog, so we hope you will consider sharing it!
Thanks so much for your time, and have a wonderful day!

So let’s start discussing Satellite radio! Join the fun in my comments! It was obvious whoever sent this just googled satellite radio and since that’s one of my tags and categories this blog came up. So here’s my reply.
Not sure how you came across my blog, but you could have at least took the time to read one of my posts about Satellite radio. The fact that your “10 Reasons Satellite Radio Rocks” doesn’t include Uncensored Howard Stern is just crazy. Not only that, but the continual mistreatment of Sirius customers is horrible. Why is there a “best of XM/Sirius” package when obviously they can cross broadcast as has been proven by their ability to cross broadcast the music stations. The move to bleed customers dry once the Merger was approved made them look like complete dicks.
Thank you very much, and I’m sure if you drive a lot or travel long distances, Satellite radio does rock. However for those who just want an alternative to the radio (ask me how well my Stilleto 2 works) are bound to be disappointed. I can’t find any reason to post your article, along with the fact that despite 140+ blog posts I only have a total of 29 comments, half of them mine, mean it won’t start a discussion anyway.
