The New Republican Way

By , November 13, 2012 8:58 pm

After being totally routed by Obama, despite spending the last 4 years doing nothing but stopping anything Obama tried to do, you’d think Republicans would try to change course. Millions upon millions of dollars spent by Republicans and they didn’t get their way. 9 of the 10 senate elections in which the Crossroads PAC (Karl Rove’s pac) spent over 10 million dollars the Democrat won. Maybe, just maybe people saw through what the Republicans were up to and decided to punish them.

Now in a sane world, maybe the Repubs would move more to the center, open up their party to minorities and women. Maybe it’s time for a Republican party that doesn’t just kowtow the line of the super wealthy while taking advantage of some of the most ignorant voters in the country. But of course we don’t live in a sane world, so that’s not going to happen.

As you might have noticed, despite losing the Presidential election and losing seats in the Senate, Republicans continue to control the House. Since they had control of the house following the 2010 Census they were able to redraw Congressional districts. Pretty much they shoved as many democrats into as few districts as possible, basically assuring themselves control of the house.

Now why might this matter? Because the new thing that the GOP is looking for is to base electoral votes not on winner take all state wide, but instead on congressional districts. If for example a state has 30 districts and 30 Electoral Votes, each district would be worth 1 electoral vote. Now look at some of the states that Obama won, such as Pennsylvania. Most of the Congressional Seats that were up for grabs went Republican, except for Pittsburgh, Philly and a few burbs. It’s not a wild guess that the rest of the districts went Romney (Obama supposedly won Philly with nearly 4-1 ratio).

This means instead of getting all of the electoral votes for PA, he would have likely gotten votes for 7 of the 19 districts. This is almost worse then actively trying to keep people from voting. It marginalizes people’s votes, especially as some of the districts aren’t exactly proportional in population. It’s bad enough that your vote is a lot more important depending on what state your voting in (I find it funny that neither candidate campaigned in New Jersey) but this is outright marginalizing people’s votes.

Winner take all when it comes to electoral vote in states has been fine for years. There’s no reason to change it now. Instead of looking for ways to marginalize the vote, maybe just maybe it’s time to start changing with the times. When your starting to lose major chunks of the Solid South, it should be a sign. It isn’t the voters to blame for your failures.

Obama Hasn’t Gotten Anything Done

By , July 12, 2012 1:22 am

I was thinking about this the other day, how much Obama has gotten done despite the Republicans in Congress. It sort of amazes me the difference between the Democrats and Republicans in the House of Representatives, especially when you look at the last 5-10 years. Even when the Dems took control of the House, they still mostly passed W’s agenda. Sure they would put up a bit of a fight, but eventually the conservative leaning Democrats would jump ship and vote with the Republicans.

Then you have one of the major reasons the Democrats took control of the House way back when, the never ending War in Iraq.  Despite the war being hugely unpopular and Bush’s approval rating dropping through the floor, what did the Dems do? They only passed Non-Binding Resolutions, which W could feel free (and did) to ignore. Then they wonder why people were upset with them a few years later, when even with Bush out of office they still couldn’t just end the war.  For that matter the “War” in Afghanistan is still an ongoing issue.

But when the Republicans got control of the House? Forget about it. Especially following the “tea party” astroturf movement for the 2010 elections. Obama could try passing a bill that would stop kittens from being fed to sharks, and the GOP would squash it and claim that he was a socialist trying to upset the natural order of life. Sharks eat Kittens and that’s just how it is, so don’t change anything. The amazing thing is that the more the Republicans align themselves with corporate interests and against the little man, the more the little man cheers for them.

Despite this, Obama has obviously helped the economy somewhat, and given the country a type of universal health care. Sure it might not be the best health care plan, but at least it’s something. In the long run it’s going to save everyone money because people won’t be paying for the uninsured who currently have to use the emergency room for everything.

Even more amazing to me is that the platform the Republicans stand on is basically a repeat of the W years. We need to give big tax breaks to the people at the top because wealth trickles down. Really? I guess that’s why as the amount of wealth held by the 1% has absolutely exploded, cause they love sharing their wealth so much. I guess that’s why Reagan and Bush both caused Recessions, and Clinton’s years were actually a boom.

That and it also helped that Clinton actually cut the insane amount of military spending. Why do we need to spend 700+ Billion dollars on the military when China is only spending 100ish Billion and they are our closest competition? Maybe if we stop giving money hand over fist to Lockheed Martin we could spend money on social programs. Especially since if you give more money to more people, they tend to actually spend it on regular everyday things. Instead of gold plated tiger cages.

It sort of amazes me that somehow Romney has pulled to a dead heat with Obama in the polls. But I guess it shouldn’t be surprising given the amount of money that has been pouring into the Romney campaign. In comparison to Obama who raised a lot of funds across a very wide swath of people, Romney is getting consistent large donations from a small circle of the ultra rich. They already helped change the Wisconsin recall election (the first time someone retained their position in a statewide recall) by pouring out of state money into the campaign. In the end the move to recall Scott was outspent 7 to 1.

Right now there are hundreds of millions of dollars being spent on anti-healthcare propaganda. It’s no wonder that people are up in arms against it. That’s without considering how much the put gets hammered home by talking heads on the TV.

The amazing thing is to me, despite all this, Obama has gotten a good number of his campaign promises done.  Going by the Politifact Obama-Meter he has kept his promise on 188 items (for 37%) and compromised on another 65 meaning nearly 250 pieces of legislation. But I guess he’s a lazy good for nothing who is scheming with islamo-facist-socialists on the best way to destroy the country.

(Note, I wrote this while mostly sleep deprived over the course of a few days. I might be a bit scatterbrained. Also I might have wrote this same article once before, I can’t remember.

Looking in the Loony Bin

By , August 24, 2011 8:25 pm

It’s sort of like a train wreck, you can’t help but look when the title is Dictator-in-chief Obama and US Congress collaborating to destroy USA? I mean I get a laugh directly from the title. It’s hard to be a Dictator-in-chief when you’ve been elected. That was one of the complaints about Bush following the 2000 election, we don’t know if he really won the election he just ran the better PR campaign after. Gore actually got more votes then Bush, something commonly forgotten. Or you know that the Congress which couldn’t figure out how to raise the debt ceiling is working hand in hand with Obama to destroy the US. But hey, let’s dig into the meat of this article a bit and have some fun.

The facts are now so obvious and blatant that even dyed in the wool Obama sycophants should be able to see and hear the truth. What took the people of this country generations of their blood, toil and sweat to accomplish and build has been destroyed in less than 4 years.

Well, it took Bush less then a year to give huge handouts to Corporations and to totally ignore Bin Laden while vacationing in Crawford. But hey I’m sure if Obama had done any of that you would have given him a break too.

The United States of America has been gutted of its financial resources,

Yes, it was Obama in the last 4 years, and nothing to do with 2 Endless Wars. One war in which Bush lied to us (They have WMDs) to get us in to make his daddy happy. Also Bush NEVER had any plan on how to PAY for the wars. But hey, I’m sure all of this is Obama’s fault.

its people have had their rights to makes their own decisions about their lives (think ObamaCare, the First, Second and Fourth Amendments for starters) rescinded so that Obama and his cabal will decide for them,

Wait, Obama isn’t illegally quartering troops in civilian’s houses? I’m shocked. Look, I’ve already mentioned the Patriot Act (Which here she claims protects the US) and remember it was Bush who made “Free Speech Zones” so popular. Everyday I have to do things I don’t want to do because Obama and his “cabal” (what exactly is his cabal anyway? The ever so powerful Cabinet?”) make me do them. I wake up in the morning, turn on the telescreen and I’m forced to exercise.

US citizens have had their jobs removed and so thoroughly decimated that they must now rely on the fewer and fewer still working and Obama’s good will (an oxymoron if I ever heard one) to survive.

What a plan by Obama, get Bush to ruin the economy and cost thousands of jobs so Obama can win the election and destroy the country. Brilliant! No mention here of the corporations that are making huge profits but refusing to hire anyone still.

And now Obama has decided — as he promised to do but, the leftist elite and enough mentally deficient American voters chose to elect him anyway — to shut down coal (even the refurbished “clean coal” plants) production operations by using his EPA regulation hammer to drive them out of business.

The scary thing is, if she considered the people who voted for Obama mentally deficient, what does she consider the people who voted for Bush twice and McCain with Palin on the ticket. I guess they were the lost intellectuals of the day. Oh and let’s get something straight about Clean Coal, it may sound good, but it’s really not much of a solution. Coal is still “dirty” and still produces CO2 no matter what you do.

Remember that Obama couldn’t get his Cap % Trade through Congress so, he issued a dictatorial fiat. This is completely illegal and unconstitutional but…no one is stopping him.

I guess when Bush pardoned Scooter Libby that was unconstitutional too. Executive Orders are a long term aspect of the Presidential office, and I’m sure all Presidents have used them in a way that have upset people. Hell, the Emancipation Proclamation was an Executive Order. Congress can always overturn executive orders if it wanted to.

We are now living in a dictatorial Police State that is completely lawless — save the laws Obama and his DOJ are making up on the spot as they so choose. And Congress and the leftist courts are doing nothing — whatsoever — to stop it.

Yes, Obama is just making up laws as he goes along because you disagree with him about coal. I must live in a different world in which the Tea Party powered House refused to increase the deficit till the very last second. Obviously congress is doing nothing to stop Obama. And these leftist courts, including the 11th circuit would never vote to overturn Obamacare.

Another problem for that portion of the US electorate who failed to think it through — a problem that now onerously impacts us all — prior to casting their ballots in November 2008 is that nearly 45% of ALL energy produced in the USA is from coal power. The US Energy Information Administration in its “Electric Power Monthly report” (released 16 August 2011) writes: “Year-to-date, coal-fired plants contributed 43.6 percent of the power generated in the United States.” This means — if Congress does not get off its collective derriere and stop the madman and his entourage — there will be not only severe power outages nationwide but, estimated millions may have no power at all for basics such as heating and air-conditioning.

Does this sound like a reality to anyone? That Obama will just cut coal production and not find any replacement sources of energy? This is something that isn’t just done with absolutely no planing. Just a quick look at the Whitehouse website shows that the long term plan is more Renewable energy sources, especially wind. But of course no mention of that here, we’re just going to cut off our arm for the hell of it.

I can’t take reading anymore of this, but I have to pick out this one last line:

Heck, Obama is installing Muslim Brotherhood members as quickly as possible into the US government. Shari’a is only a short step away, folks. YouTube has already started censoring and removing all videos that do not support Islamic worldwide domination.

Oh wait, and here’s another fun part of that:

Note: Remember that the Muslim Brotherhood is the foundation organization that spawned al-Qaeda, Hamas and most other Islamic terrorist groups.

I guess the Muslim Brotherhood which spawned al-Qaeda (the CIA had nothing to do with that?) also helped to take down Osama Bin Laden later? Ironically when I looked at the authors archive there is absolutely no mention of Bin Laden’s  death. It just skips from an article on April 30th to May 11th (Osama was killed on May 2nd).  I would love to see how reality fits into Obama being a part of the Muslim Brotherhood. I would also love to see how Youtube can influence the world on the Muslim Brotherhood. Wouldn’t it make more sense to use national television or something that hits a wider audience?

The amazing thing is, this author, Sher Zieve, has been Chicken Little to the country is falling for OVER 5 YEARS! Take a look at this archive. I guess if you predict the destruction of the United States between now and the end of time, your going to be right at some point.

Obama can still make me smile

By , August 16, 2011 8:18 pm

I voted for Obama in the last election. Not because I was a brain washed liberal who only watches MSNBC. As I’ve said before, I don’t think MSNBC leans FAR enough to the left, so there’s no reason for me to watch it. If you seriously went out and voted for Jon McCain, you might have been a tad insane. McCain was so out of touch, he didn’t even know how to react to the sinking economy until his poll numbers started sinking. Adding Sarah Palin to the ticket in order to get Democrats who would have voted for Hillary to vote for McCain was insane too. Palin is the exact opposite of Clinton in every way, from the beauty queen aspect to being dim witted and on the opposite of nearly every important issue.

I was always worried though, as Obama seemed to become something to everyone. He was always seemed bigger then he actually was. When you go back it seemed like no one took the time to read his positions on his website, which always seemed a bit more middle of the road then people were making it out to be. I am a little disappointed that Obama hasn’t gotten more done, but he has had to face a Republican party which is completely unwilling to negotiate at all. They seem to be after power for powers sake, and holding Obama back from doing anything while blaming him for everything seems to be their road to the white house.

But the other day during a campaign stop in Iowa, Obama got in an argument with a Tea Party member. Of course the Tea Party member felt he was being ignored and bounced up and down shouting at Obama the following:

Rhodes shouted out that the president’s calls for more civility in politics had little chance of coming to pass after “your vice president is calling people like me, a Tea Party member, a ‘terrorist.’”

Yes, the guy complaining about civility didn’t wait to be picked out of the crowd among people asking questions, in case you were curious. Obama showed some of the wit which makes him so great on the campaign trail.

“In fairness, since I have been called a socialist who wasn’t born in this country, who is destroying America and taking away its freedoms because I passed a health care bill, I am all for lowering the rhetoric.”

The amazing thing is that Bush would have never (okay, I say never, but feel free to point out if I’m wrong) brought up anything that was said about him. From his AWOL National Guard stint, to the Cocaine addiction and the other rhetoric he might have heard on the trail, he never self-referenced it. It makes you wonder how close to home some of those hit. In comparison Obama is willing to bring it up because he knows people claim it, yet realizes that some people are just insane. I hope he calls out a lot more of these Tea Party Douchebags while out and about.
