Blah Blah Blah

From The NY Daily News On The Mets loss:

Blah blah blah blah rain blah blah blah Niese blah blah Astros blah blah Mets got spanked. Blah blah, 6-1. We really don’t know what else to tell you about this one. But we will try:

It sort of begs the question, why would any fan grab a copy of the Daily News to find news stories of any local team. That feeling goes towards the Post and the Times too. Obviously it’s sort of a running gag how bad the Mets are, but who would rather follow a free blog online that updates multiple times a day over an out of date story or at most two? I think Newspapers with as much as they struggle to turn a profit recently, cutting the sports section out might be a good move.
Even more so, it seems like beat writers for teams are either new to the job or are just trying to make a name for themselves. In the long run it’s a nice job, but if they can attract a lot of attention then they can move on to an ESPN or to their personal blog. It seems like no one just wants to be a beat writer anymore, they want to be a personality. Truthfully it’s a bit sad that this day and age that sports writing seems to be going downhill. It especially seems to be going downhill if you’ve ever googled something sports related and went to a Bleacher Report story. There’s some good guys over there, but they seem to be few and far apart.
I’m not even saying I’m any good. But it’s just tiring that everyone is trying to be a personality. Is it really that hard to report on something without trying to be a character? It comes off as trying too hard to be funny. Haha, let’s start this off with Blah Blah Blah two weeks into the season. It’s like the kid in class yelling and shouting look at me to the teacher, with no idea what the right answer is. Even when the Islanders were in the midst of a 20 game winless streak, I don’t think anyone started off a story about their previous game blah blah blah.
Maybe it’s just me, maybe I’m wrong. I haven’t followed baseball in a long time. It’s possible that this isn’t somewhat ridiculous. I just always held the NY Daily News in high regard, when I used to read both the News and the Post it was amazing the angles that the Post would take on stories. One of my favorites was the time leading up to the release of Fahrenheit 9/11 in which the Post proclaimed Moore to be Goebbels nearly every day. I don’t know if the Post ever did apologize to Moore, considering how badly they were slandering him. Especially since it has come out long ago that Bush lied about the WMDs. But hey, it’s Rupert Murdoch’s empire anyway.
